The 2025 SELCO Food Drive

SELCO Steps Up Community Giving Volunteering

Food has a special way of bringing people together.

SELCO Food Drive

Every year, the SELCO Food Drive does exactly that by uniting our team members to support a shared purpose: supporting Oregonian’s facing food scarcity. This year, from October 6-10, we joined forces and raised funds for the Oregon Food Bank network, setting an initial goal of raising $3,000 to help meet the rising need for hunger relief across the state.

That need has grown significantly. Over the past year, food assistance sites supported by the Oregon Food Bank recorded 2.5 million visits, marking a 31% increase from the previous year. The statewide network plays an essential role in meeting this demand, coordinating with local pantries, farmers, meal sites, and grocery partners to ensure families have consistent access to nutritious, culturally relevant foods.

This year’s drive centered on monetary donations rather than canned goods. Financial contributions allow the Oregon Food Bank to stretch each dollar farther. They’re able to purchase in bulk, prioritizing fresh food and distributing it efficiently across Oregon. As a result, every donation helps provide more meals than a traditional grocery store.

A meaningful outcome in 2025

The 2025 SELCO Food Drive concluded with strong participation. SELCO team members raised $6,410, which included $2,935 in SELCO Donation Matching Funds. These funds will help give more than 19,000 meals to families and individuals experiencing hunger. The Oregon Food Bank does a great job, as mentioned earlier, as they’re able to provide three meals for one dollar raised.

More support through community partners

In addition to financial contributions, SELCO’s Steps Up Ambassadors extended the impact of the Food Drive through direct food donations. They purchased and delivered approximately 450 pounds of food to three community partners serving communities throughout the state: The Giving Plate in Bend, Punx With Purpose in Salem, and Food for Lane County in Eugene.

A continued commitment to fighting hunger

The success of the 2025 Food Drive reflects SELCO’s continued commitment to supporting the health and well-being of Oregon communities. As the need for food assistance continues to rise, SELCO will remain a partner in fighting hunger—ensuring families across the state have access to food.
