Forming Stability with SquareOne Villages

SELCO Steps Up Community Giving Volunteering

At Opportunity Village, the small row of tiny homes hums with people cooking, doing laundry, and settling into spaces that finally feel like their own.

Having a door they can close, a place to keep their belongings safe, and a community they can count on makes every day feel a little more grounded for the residents. SquareOne Villages has been creating that sense of stability since 2012, and SELCO’s partnership with them continues to help that mission grow.

SquareOne designed Opportunity Village around dignity. Each person residing there has a private sleeping unit, while the kitchen, restrooms, and laundry spaces bring neighbors together in a shared daily life. It’s housing that offers safety without sacrificing independence. A model built intentionally for people transitioning out of homelessness.

Our work with SquareOne Villages began in 2017 with the creation of the Resident Support Fund. That early investment helped meet immediate needs for people moving into the village, and the partnership has only deepened over time. Today, support includes anything from kitchen supplies and hot plates to mini fridges, chest freezers, and essential items that make each unit feel ready to live in from day one.

What matters most is the impact felt by these resources. Filling a unit with basics means residents can focus on settling in and avoid worrying about what they’re missing. Stocking the shared kitchen allows neighbors to prepare meals together and build community. It’s a small piece of support, but together they create momentum, the kind that helps a community find its footing.

We are proud to support partners like SquareOne Villages. The shared effort helps Opportunity Village remain a place where people can rebuild their lives and grow with a community that stands behind them.
