Lights, Camera, Learning! Digital Media Grant Brings Student Stories to Life

SELCO Steps Up Community Giving Student & Educator Support

Daniel Asay dreamed of giving students real-world digital media experience.

The Santiam Junior and Senior High School educator knew all it would take would be access to quality tools.

Thanks to a 2018 SPARK! Educator Grant (now called Creative Educator Grants) from SELCO Community Credit Union, the classroom is now equipped with professional lighting, sound, and recording gear—empowering students to produce their own videos and digital stories.

This new equipment allows students to explore everything from scriptwriting to filming and editing. It’s more than just new technology; it’s a way to amplify student voices and encourage collaboration, innovation, and confidence in front of and behind the camera

Watch the project in action!

Projects like this highlight what happens when creativity and community support come together. We’re proud to help educators bring their visions to life and inspire the next generation of creators.

Visit our Student & Educator Support page on selco.org to learn more about our Creative Educator Grant program and how we’re supporting classrooms, students, and educators across Oregon.
