SELCO Community Credit Union Named First Title Sponsor for Springfield’s The Block Party

Press Release

Now in its sixth year, The Block Party powered by SELCO returns to historic downtown Springfield on Friday, Sept. 5

(SPRINGFIELD, Ore.) — SELCO Community Credit Union wants to party with its hometown. The Springfield-based credit union has been named the first-ever title sponsor for Springfield’s The Block Party powered by SELCO Community Credit Union, the event’s organizers and SELCO recently announced.

Scheduled for Friday, Sept. 5, The Block Party powered by SELCO is designed to bring the community — whether that means Springfield specifically or Lane County as a whole — together to celebrate Springfield’s vibrant culture. The rapidly growing event has become a favorite annual tradition for residents, businesses, and civic organizations alike, drawing an estimated 10,000 people to the city’s historic downtown in 2024 alone.

Now in its sixth year, the 2025 version of The Block Party is poised to be the biggest yet, expanding to more than seven city blocks and featuring live music, local food, craft beverages, and new experiences that will bring a surge of energy to downtown.

“In The Block Party, we see more than an event — we see a catalyst that strengthens the bonds of this community,” said Olivia Sorensen, Community Development Supervisor for SELCO. “As a locally based credit union, SELCO has seen up close how organizers have created an event that perfectly captures the spirit of Springfield. We’re proud to be part of its evolution and helping ensure this incredible community gathering remains free, inclusive, and accessible for everyone who calls Lane County home.”

For its first five years, The Block Party was built on grassroots support — funded through modest sponsorships from local businesses and service groups, and with organizers volunteering their time.

With SELCO’s three-year commitment to be the event’s title sponsor, The Block Party gains a strategic partner to help elevate its programming, expand its reach, and enhance the overall experience while maintaining its open-to-all ethos.

“With its roots in Springfield and its unwavering dedication to this community, SELCO is the perfect partner to help take The Block Party to the next level,” said Benjamin Wilkinson, organizer of The Block Party. “This partnership isn’t just about a sponsorship — it’s about shared values and a common vision. SELCO brings real energy, resources, and heart to the table, and we’re thrilled to be building something bigger and better together.”For more information on The Block Party powered by SELCO, visit www.springfieldblockparty.com.
