SELCO Steps Up

Community is everything

This belief is at the heart of all we do, including the various ways we give back. Since its debut in 2024, SELCO Steps Up has invested nearly $900,000 in educator grants, scholarship, and impact-driven sponsorships, as well as hundreds of volunteer hours leading free financial education classes, filling backpacks for students, organizing clothes drives, and much, much more.

A history of stepping up

As a credit union founded by teachers, education is a cornerstone of our giving efforts, with a focus on removing barriers to financial literacy. These barriers can take many forms, from lack of educational access to food and housing insecurity. By empowering individuals and families to achieve financial well-being, we strive to build a stronger foundation for all our members and neighbors.

Team Member Spotlight: Steve

Steve, SELCO’s Director of IT, shows the true meaning of community service by volunteering with Lane County Sherriff's Office Search & Rescue all year long (over 600 hours last year!). In July, he used his SELCO Volunteer Time Off to help out at the Lane County Fair at the first aid booth as a search and rescue volunteer. Using his mountaineering and hiking experience, Steve has been able to make a meaningful impact, pursuing a passion while doing good for his community.
