Thompson brings 14 years of banking experience to SELCO
(BEND, Ore.) — SELCO Community Credit Union recently hired Taylor Thompson as vice president, commercial loan officer – Central & Eastern Oregon team leader for its Commercial & Business Banking division. Operating out of the Old Mill branch, Thompson will provide in-depth local knowledge about commercial lending while offering local loan decisions and personalized service.
“We’re excited to finally get Taylor on the team — he’s as local of a banker as it gets, so we knew it would take something big to see him make a move,” said Mike Donaca, SELCO’s Vice President of Commercial & Business Banking and Senior Commercial Credit Officer. “There are a ton of great people (employees and banking customers) wedged between these mega-mergers we are seeing right now. This was our opportunity to hire a strong commercial lender, and we seized it.”
Thompson has nearly 15 years of experience in the financial services industry. Beginning as a management trainee at Columbia River Bank in 2007, he moved into the commercial and agricultural lending fields and held various roles before moving back to Central Oregon in 2011. Most recently, he was a vice president and commercial banking team lead at Columbia Bank.
“I’m excited to rejoin a community financial institution like SELCO,” Thompson said. “I’ve followed SELCO’s growth in Central Oregon for a lot of years, and I’m a huge fan of their community-focused banking. They truly are one of the last financial institutions still calling Oregon home.”
Thompson earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing from Eastern Oregon University. In addition to his duties at SELCO, he serves on the board and is membership chair of Risk Management Association in Bend. He formerly was involved with the City Club of Central Oregon membership committee, served on the board of Start Making A Reader Today (SMART) and Redmond Rotary, and was treasurer of the Lions Club chapter in Sunnyside, Washington. In his spare time, Thompson enjoys family time, camping, fishing, road biking, kayaking, and playing fetch with the family dog, Indi.
