SELCO is one of nine finalists nationwide for PR Daily’s Nonprofit Communications Campaign of the Year for its SELCO Steps Up philanthropy program
(SPRINGFIELD, Ore.) — SELCO Community Credit Union has been named a nationwide finalist for PR Daily’s 2026 Nonprofit Communications Awards in the Nonprofit Communications Campaign of the Year category for its communications campaign supporting SELCO Steps Up.
Presented by PR Daily and Ragan Communications, the Nonprofit Communications Awards recognize organizations, teams, and communicators behind campaigns and initiatives that inform communities, inspire action, build trust, and advance important causes. SELCO is one of nine award finalists, including UNICEF USA, the Muscular Dystrophy Association, and others. Winners will be announced Sept. 30 during an awards luncheon at the Yale Club in New York City.
SELCO earned its finalist status for a two-year public relations campaign supporting SELCO Steps Up, SELCO’s statewide, employee-powered philanthropic model that launched in 2024.
“We’re honored to be recognized by PR Daily alongside so many outstanding organizations doing meaningful work,” said Bob Newcomb, SELCO President and CEO. “This recognition reflects the importance of thoughtful, authentic communication in bringing people together around a shared purpose. By helping tell the stories of the educators, students, nonprofits, and volunteers at the heart of SELCO Steps Up, this campaign has expanded awareness, inspired participation, and ultimately helped us create a greater positive impact throughout Oregon.”
SELCO Steps Up reimagined the credit union’s approach to community engagement by empowering employees to help guide local giving and volunteer efforts. Since its launch, the program has provided nearly $1 million in support and thousands of volunteer hours through initiatives such as educator grants, scholarships, nonprofit sponsorships, and more across the communities SELCO serves.
The recognition marks the latest national honor for SELCO Steps Up. Earlier this year, the Steps Up public relations campaign earned a “Category’s Best” Diamond Award from America’s Credit Unions, and the program itself was recognized as a finalist for the Credit Union Times’ Luminaries Award for Community Impact.
