This spectacular annual event took place on May 13, 2023, with a staggering 1,900 participants and 97 volunteers! The event comprised six legs, each showcasing a unique aspect of outdoor adventure including alpine skiing/snowboarding, cross country skiing, biking, running, canoeing/kayaking/stand-up paddle boarding, and a sprint to the finish line. But the adults didn’t get all the fun! The younger generation showed up for a little friendly competition at the Mini Pole Pedal, a team obstacle course for kids in Kindergarten to 5th grade.
As with most Oregon events, there were dogs galore – this year adorned with tie-dye SELCO bandannas!
The SELCO team showed their infectious energy at the finish line, cheering as participants completed the race, handing out swag (complete with prize wheel!) and divvying out dog treats. We also had a team of colleagues who participated in the event itself after training for months!
Every year, we eagerly await the selection of a new design for the event posters, shirts, and other event-related materials. This year was no exception, as we received an overwhelming response from the public with nearly 50 submissions and a remarkable 10,000 votes tallied. The exceptional talent and creative vision of Adalynn Rhyne captivated the hearts of voters, winning the artwork design contest for 2023.
