Switching to SELCO

Step 1. Open your account

Membership is open to anyone who lives or works in one of the counties we serve. And with our online application, it only takes about five minutes to apply.

Here's what you'll need:

  • Valid ID
  • Proof of address
  • Your Social Security number
  • $10 to get started

Step 2. Update your direct deposits

You’ll want to identify any direct payments to your old account and switch them to your new one. Not currently using direct deposits? They're easy to set up.

Here are a couple common direct deposits:

  • Paycheck: Just let your employer know your SELCO account and routing numbers.
    • SELCO’s routing number is 323274445 (it’s also in lower left of your checks and at the bottom of every page).
    • You can find your 14-digit account number next to the routing number on your checks or by contacting any branch. You can also find it through online banking by clicking the settings icon next to your account and selecting "Account Details."
  • Social Security: To update your Social Security payments, you’ll have to call the Social Security Administration at 800-772-1213. Be ready to give them:
    • Your old institution’s name and address (if applicable).
    • Your old routing and account numbers (if applicable).
    • Your SELCO routing and account numbers.
    • Your Social Security number.

Step 3. Update your automatic payments

Check your old statements for automatic payments or withdrawals (car payments, mortgage, Netflix subscription, etc.).

  • If current payments are withdrawing directly from your account, provide your full account number and routing number to the payee.
  • If current payments are withdrawing by debiting your card, provide the card number and information to the payee.
  • You can also set up bill pay through SELCO Online Banking.

Step 4. Close your old account and transfer remaining funds

This is it, last step. Once you’ve updated your direct deposits and automatic payments, let your old institution know you’d like to close your account (you’ll have to provide this in writing). Your remaining funds can then be withdrawn or transferred electronically to your SELCO account (contact your old institution for all your options).
