Lights, Camera, Learning! Digital Media Grant Brings Student Stories to Life

SELCO Steps Up Community Giving Student & Educator Support

Students at Santiam Junior and Senior High School are bringing stories to life with new digital media equipment funded by SELCO educator grants.

When Santiam Junior and Senior High School educator Daniel Asay dreamed of giving students real-world digital media experience, they knew access to quality tools would make all the difference.

Thanks to a 2018 SPARK! Grant (now called Creative Educator Grants) from SELCO Community Credit Union, the classroom is now equipped with professional lighting, sound, and recording gear—empowering students to produce their own videos and digital stories.

This new equipment gives students the opportunity to explore everything from scriptwriting and filming to editing—skills that prepare them for both creative and future careers. It’s more than just new technology; it’s a way to amplify student voices and encourage collaboration, innovation, and confidence both in front of and behind the camera.

Watch the project in action!

Projects like this highlight what happens when creativity and community support come together. We’re proud to help educators bring their visions to life and inspire the next generation of creators.
