The SELCO Story

Eugene-Lane Teachers Credit Union

It all started with a shoebox.

The year was 1936. Times were tough. To help one another, local teachers and school employees started pooling their funds together in a shoebox. When one member needed a loan, the others stepped in.

From their mutual support, SELCO Community Credit Union was born. Today we have a lot more members—more than 120,000—and much better technology than a shoebox. But we’re still the same not-for-profit cooperative dedicated to serving your financial needs.

After all, our members aren’t customers. They’re our owners. When you join SELCO Community Credit Union, you get a voice in how we do business. Our members elect volunteer leaders from the community to guide our development and keep our professional standards high.

It’s amazing how much you can grow when your top priority is to enrich your community. Today, SELCO Community Credit Union serves 26 counties throughout Oregon with a network of branch offices committed to giving you the best service we can provide. That includes anytime, anywhere access to your accounts through no-cost services such as Online and Mobile Banking, convenient Bill Pay, paperless statements, no-surcharge ATMs, and much more.

In more than 80 years of cultivating lifelong relationships with our members, we’ve learned how essential credit unions are to economic success—not just for individuals but entire communities. That makes us proud of what we do.
